Franco Fazioli
Electronic Design - Founder

Twenty-five years of experience in design and production of electronic and electro-optics system for industrial and military applications.
Franco has been responsible for integration on Crisel Instruments custom systems and he’s company executive vice president.
He’s member of the committee in charge of new products strategic planning both for CrestOptics and D-TAILS.

Franco Castelmani
Mechanical Design - Founder

Franco has more than 30 years of experience in mechanical engineering for leading aerospace companies. He has developed skills in designing and assessing manufacturing solutions for optomechanics, kinematics and cryogenics assemblies for infrared and sensors and imaging systems.
Franco holds a few patents that are still in use to produce professional tools sold worldwide; furthermore, he is still consulting to develop custom test equipment for the automotive industry.
Franco leads the mechanical engineering team of D-TAILS, providing innovative ideas and handling the relationship with an external workshop to speed up the prototype’s development and optimize production cost and the reliability of the final product.

Davide Caprini

Post-Doctoral at IIT@Sapienza–Center for Life Nano Science
PhD in Theoretical and applied mechanics specialising in microfluidics (2018)
Fluid dynamics engineer with skills in the design of microfluidic networks. His background allows him to follow the manufacture of microfluidic devices in their design and in carrying out the manufacturing processes with soft-lithography, 3D printing and micro-milling techniques. He has gained experience in the design and fabrication of integrated systems of the Lab-On-a-Chip type for diagnostic applications and in vivo experiments. He followed the design and manufacture of autonomous chips with blotting papers. He has strong experience with microfluidic chips for microscopy applications and for calcium imaging experiments on nematodes and yeast.
He is currently working on D-Tails projects for the development of biosensors for cancer screening.

Gianluca Ferraro
Optical Desgin

PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham, UK, after a Master degree in Nanotechnology Engineering, at the University of Rome La Sapienza.

Actually a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Joint-Lab of the Italian Institute of Technology in Rome.
